"The more the government is allowed to do in taking over and running the economy, the deeper the depression gets and the longer it lasts. That was the story of the 30ss and the early 40s, and the same mistakes are likely to be made again if we do not wake up."...

We Just Lost Our 2nd Amendment Right PDF Print E-mail
U.S. News

Notice that these justices say exactly what the Second Amendment states ("A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.") but then through CLASSIC double-speak they say "even though it says it shall not be infringed, it shall be." In other words, "yes, you have a right to own guns but we have a right to infringe them."

Technically, if the justices followed the Amendment to the letter of the law it would get rid of ALL gun control across the board. But that’s never going to happen. I’m not dumb enough to think that any politician or judge in their right mind is going to strike down gun control entirely, although they should because that’s what the Constituition says.

So yeah, this might peel back SOME gun control but not all. They still say "the government may infringe your right to own a gun" even though the Second Amendment clearly states "shall NOT be infringed"

It doesn’t say UNREASONABLY infringed, it says flat-out it shall not be infringed!

Senate Moves Forward on Orwellian Thought Crimes Bill PDF Print E-mail
U.S. News

thought_crimeIn the wake of Senator Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) and Susan Collins' (R-ME) alarmist report, "Violent Islamist Extremism, the Internet, and the Homegrown Terrorism Threat," the Senate may be moving towards passage of the Orwellian "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007" (S. 1959).

A companion piece of legislative flotsam to the House bill, "The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007" (H.R. 1955), the Democrat-controlled Congress seems ready to jettison Constitutional guarantees of free speech and assembly. The bill passed the House by a 404-6 vote in October. Twenty-three congress members abstained, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers.

Under cover of studying "violent radicalization," both bills would broaden the already-fluid definition of "terrorism" to encompass political activity and protest by dissident groups, effectively criminalizing civil disobedience and non-violent direct action by developing policies for "prevention, disruption and mitigation."

Totalitarian State Tactics Coming to a School Near You? PDF Print E-mail
U.S. News

Some school kids in Texas are being tracked by GPS to make sure they attend. Of course, there are several ways to deal with kids who skip school other than tracking them with GPS, no matter how many days they miss. This feels weird to even write about, though it should be no surprise as our country slips more and more toward totalitarianism.
